Exploring Our Place in a Global Society

On July 1st, 2025, our Grade 3 students had the incredible opportunity to visit Expo 2025 Osaka as part of their Unit of Inquiry under the transdisciplinary theme “Who We Are.” This special excursion brought classroom learning to life, giving students a hands-on experience that deepened their understanding of our central idea: “People have rights and responsibilities in a global society.”

As part of our inquiry into the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Expo's theme—“Designing Future Society for Our Lives”—provided the perfect backdrop for exploring how people around the world are collaborating to create a more sustainable, inclusive, and innovative future. From interactive exhibits to inspiring global initiatives, students saw real-world examples of how communities are coming together to solve challenges such as climate change, poverty, education, and health care.

During the day, students explored a wide range of pavilions, each showcasing ideas and technologies aimed at building a better tomorrow. Whether it was learning about clean energy solutions, innovations in health care, or how different countries are working toward gender equality, our Grade 3 learners were inspired by the creativity and cooperation on display.

This experience directly supports our school’s mission to nurture internationally minded, compassionate, and responsible learners. It reminded us all that even at a young age, students can begin to see themselves as global citizens—people who care about others and take responsibility for the world we share.

We’re so proud of our Grade 3 students for engaging thoughtfully and respectfully with this unique opportunity. The trip sparked many powerful reflections, and we look forward to seeing how this learning will continue to grow back in the classroom.
