2025 Fall MAP Testing Underway

Updated: Oct 3

This week, Abroad International School began our annual NWEA MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) testing. For many families, this may be a new experience, so we’d like to share a little about what it is and why we use it.

MAP testing is not like a traditional exam. Instead, it’s an adaptive assessment that adjusts to each student’s level. If a question is answered correctly, the test will become a little more challenging; if a question is answered incorrectly, the test will adjust to something more manageable. This way, every child has the opportunity to show what they know—whether they are working above, at, or below grade level.

The results give teachers and parents a clear picture of each student’s strengths and areas for growth. For educators, it helps us tailor instruction to better meet the needs of each learner. For parents, it provides valuable insight into how your child is progressing, beyond what you might see in classroom work or report cards.

At AIS, we believe learning is a journey, and MAP testing is just one tool that helps guide us along the way. Combined with our everyday classroom observations and projects, it gives us a fuller understanding of each child’s unique learning profile.

We’re excited to see how our students grow this year, and we look forward to sharing results with families in the weeks ahead. Together, we can use this information to support every child’s academic development and celebrate their achievements.
